Galaxy of Lights at Huntsville Botanical Garden: An Accessible Guide

Last checked: Oct 16, 2026

Galaxy of Lights is Huntsville Botanical Garden's holiday light show. Some nights you drive through it, and other nights you walk it. On Walking Nights, the Garden says the route is wide enough for wheelchairs, and you can borrow a wheelchair or scooter or ride a tram that has a wheelchair space. The details and sources are below.

What other sources report

  • Cory Lee visited during the 2020 season, when he drove through it, on a trip hosted by the Huntsville CVB. He called it "hands-down the best drive-thru Christmas lights display I've ever seen!" (Curb Free with Cory Lee, Dec 10, 2020 (opens in new tab), [Trusted firsthand source], checked Oct 16, 2026). That was six seasons ago, so the route may have changed.

Ratings apply to Walking Nights. The Garden's accessibility page covers the whole Garden, including the Propst Guest Center where Walking Nights restrooms and loaners are, so we apply it to the show. Entry scores 5 (Venue states accessible): Walking Night guests enter through the Propst Guest Center (Galaxy of Lights (opens in new tab), [Official]), the Garden's only entrance, which has automatic push-button doors and step-free routes from accessible parking. Paths scores 5 (Venue states accessible): the Garden says the walking route's paved roads, brick and gravel paths are "wide enough to accommodate strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs." Its note that some areas may be dark is a tip to bring a flashlight, not a barrier. Parking scores 5 (Venue states accessible): accessible spaces are in the Azalea and Dogwood lots, and parking is free during the show. Driving Nights aren't rated separately: passengers stay in their vehicles, and restrooms are only before the ticket booths.

Ratings tagged "not personally verified" rest on information the venue published or on trusted firsthand reports; we have not personally verified them.
