Pigeon Forge Winterfest
Last checked: Oct 16, 2026
Provisional guide: the city publishes dates, free parking and a wheelchair statement for the walking trail, but 2026 light hours aren't out yet, older city pages give a later end date, the trail's length differs between sources, restroom accessibility at night isn't stated, and no official source describes accessible entry or parking spaces, so only Paths is rated so far. We'll update this guide as we confirm more.
Winterfest fills Pigeon Forge with "more than 6 million winter lights" (Pigeon Forge Winterfest (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). You can walk or roll the free Wonders of Light Walking Trail on the paved Riverwalk, park free in three city lots, and ride the city's trolleys, which are "lift-equipped for wheelchairs and/or other mobility aids" (Pigeon Forge mass transit (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Or drive the Parkway for the Driving Tour of Lights.
Please confirm before you go: dates, hours and details can change. Check the Winterfest event page (opens in new tab) before your visit. For trolley paratransit, call 865-453-6444 (Pigeon Forge mass transit (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).

Confirm the end date before a late-season trip.

The city's greenway listing says "Greenway trails are open from sunrise to sunset" (Pigeon Forge greenway listing (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026), so confirm with the city that the trail is open in the evening during the lights.

"Only service animals are allowed on trolleys" (2026 Pigeon Forge Travel Planner (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).

Accessibility and ratings
What we found
From the city's official pages
- Surface: the Riverwalk guide calls it a "flat, paved path" that "is fully accessible for wheelchairs and strollers" (Pigeon Forge Riverwalk guide (opens in new tab), [Official], undated, checked Oct 16, 2026). Last season's walking-trail post said "paved and mostly flat" (Pigeon Forge walking-trail blog, Nov 3, 2025 (opens in new tab), [Official], last season, checked Oct 16, 2026). The city's greenway listing says it's "accessible for visitors using wheelchairs, mobility equipment, or strollers," with "benches along the trail" (Pigeon Forge greenway listing (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
- Route: the lit trail runs from the Municipal Parking Lot to about Old Mill Avenue and Butler Street, near the Old Mill Historic Square (Pigeon Forge walking-trail blog, Nov 3, 2025 (opens in new tab), [Official], last season, checked Oct 16, 2026).
- Restroom locations: "Restroom facilities are available at the Pigeon Forge Community Center, The Island in Pigeon Forge, Patriot Park, and Wear Farm Park" (Pigeon Forge greenway map (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Whether they're accessible and open during the evening light hours isn't stated.
- Displays: "over 45 nature-inspired, musical light displays," including a 20-foot ice fountain (Pigeon Forge walking-trail blog, Nov 3, 2025 (opens in new tab), [Official], last season, checked Oct 16, 2026). The displays are musical, so expect sound. No sensory-friendly hours or flashing-light information is published.
What other sources report
- TrailLink lists the trail surface as "Asphalt, Concrete" (TrailLink (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026).
- A power-wheelchair user reviewing Patriot Park in October 2023 wrote, "It's completely Accessible even for people like myself who use a Power Wheelchair. Easy in and out. Plenty of Accessible Parking … they have an Accessible Trolley" (TripAdvisor: Patriot Park, Oct 8, 2023 (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Heads-up: trail length. The city calls the Riverwalk "a 6.4-mile paved trail" (Pigeon Forge Riverwalk guide (opens in new tab), [Official], undated, checked Oct 16, 2026), while TrailLink lists "Length: 3.8 miles" (TrailLink (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026). The 6.4 miles may be the round trip. The lit section's own length isn't stated.
Heads-up: power chairs. The city's greenway listing says "Motorized vehicles are not allowed on trails" (Pigeon Forge greenway listing (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). It doesn't say whether that covers power wheelchairs, so ask the city before you go.
Heads-up: starting at Patriot Park. A 2019 TrailLink reviewer wrote that from Patriot Park "you leave the park and cross the street then follow sidewalk past several houses" before reaching the trail (TrailLink review, Nov 2019 (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026). Curb cuts aren't described.
Heads-up: parking cost. A June 15, 2024 TripAdvisor reviewer wrote, "The parking is an eye watering $25" (TripAdvisor: Patriot Park, Jun 15, 2024 (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026). The city lots are free, so this may refer to a private lot.
Heads-up: Driving Tour hours. Last season's driving-tour map listed its stops with "HOURS: 5:00 P.M. - 1:00 A.M. DAILY" (last season's driving-tour map (opens in new tab), [Official], 2025 season, checked Oct 16, 2026). The 2026 map isn't posted yet.
