Gaylord Opryland: A Country Christmas and ice!

Last checked: Oct 16, 2026

Provisional guide: for 2026 the resort says ice! "is wheelchair accessible," but the ice slides are not. Current details on restrooms, atrium routes and rentals aren't published; some details below come from a resort accessibility guide from about 2017. Two official pages also disagree on ice! arrival times, and the hotel page gives two answers on shuttles. Only Entry and Parking are rated so far. We'll update this guide as we confirm more.

A Country Christmas runs "November 6, 2026 – January 2, 2027" at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville (A Country Christmas (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Inside the resort, the official page promises "9 Acres of Décor" and "millions of holiday lights" (Resort experience (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). The ticketed ice! attraction is a 9-degree hall of ice sculptures.

Please confirm before you go: check the FAQ page (opens in new tab) and the ticket page (opens in new tab) for current rules, and ask the resort about accessible parking, restrooms and the route to ice! before you visit. Prices and policies can change.

Plan your visit

Heads-up: the ice slides. The Nov 18 ticket page says "Slides are not wheelchairs or strollers accessible" (Nov 18 ice! ticket page (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026), and the FAQ says "Guests must be able to walk up the stairs on their own" (Christmas at Gaylord Opryland FAQs (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). The FAQ adds that "there are many other elements throughout the attraction that are fully accessible" (same page), but no bypass route or slide alternative is named.

Heads-up: arrival time (official pages disagree). The ice! ticket page says "Guest must arrive to attraction entrance at their scheduled time. No early or late admission will be permitted" (ice! ticket page (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). The Nov 18 ticket page says "Guests may enter the ice! queue starting at the exact time listed on their ticket," and if you arrive late, "Please visit the Guest Services window to request a new time slot, based on availability" (Nov 18 ice! ticket page (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). The FAQ says to arrive "at least 5 minutes early" and that arriving "more than five minutes late cannot be guaranteed" (Christmas at Gaylord Opryland FAQs (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Ask which rule applies to your ticket.

Heads-up: dated rental info. The guide from about 2017 lists the rental desk as open "9am–7pm" (Gaylord Opryland accessibility guide, about 2017 (opens in new tab), [Official, ~2017], checked Oct 16, 2026). Current rental hours and prices aren't confirmed, so call before you plan around them.

Heads-up: shuttle (the hotel page says both). The hotel's current page says "This hotel does not provide shuttle service" and also lists "Local Shuttle Complimentary" (Marriott: Gaylord Opryland overview (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Ask the resort before you count on a shuttle.

Heads-up: floor and crowds. The Nov 18 ticket page recommends footwear for "wet, slippery ice surfaces" (Nov 18 ice! ticket page (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026); the floor surface for wheelchairs isn't described. One December 2025 reviewer found ice! "very overcrowded with shoulder to shoulder standing room and you could not move easily throughout the show" (TripAdvisor review, Dec 8, 2025 (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026). This is a single review and doesn't change a score. The ticket page also notes "We share a high-traffic access road with our neighboring mall" (Nov 18 ice! ticket page (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).

What we found

From the resort's official pages

  • ice! (2026): the ticket page says "ice! is wheelchair accessible, however the ice! slides are not" (ice! ticket page (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
  • Atriums (about 2017): the older guide said "All interior and exterior public spaces (each atrium, lobby, restaurant, Convention Center, etc.) are accessible," with an "Accessibility Route" on its map, and Braille on signage and elevators (Gaylord Opryland accessibility guide, about 2017 (opens in new tab), [Official, ~2017], checked Oct 16, 2026). Treat these details as dated.
  • Resort (current): "Main Entrance is Accessible," "Accessible on-site parking," "Van Accessible on-site parking," elevators and accessible restaurants (Marriott: Gaylord Opryland overview (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). The page doesn't describe public restrooms or atrium routes.

What other sources report

  • A December 2014 reviewer advised, "If you have a wheelchair, you definitely want to stay to the right through the Garden Conservatory as it is the side with the ramp!" The same reviewer said the Magnolia parade-of-trees view is "from the second floor (up the staircase)"; no elevator alternative was mentioned (TripAdvisor review, Dec 2014 (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026). This is an old, single review.
