Part of the ECV fleet can be reserved online with advance payment; the rest, and all wheelchairs, are first come, first served (daily rentals (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Prices: Not verified (not shown on the pages we read).
- Advance notice: extra navigation services for visitors who are blind or have low vision, and ASL interpreters, need 14 days' notice. Call 1-800-365-5996 (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Heads-up: distances and show waits. The park is spread out. One visitor rented an electric scooter to get around, and reported a wait of about 1.5 hours for the main show (TripAdvisor review, Oct 15, 2026 (opens in new tab), [Secondary], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Worth your time
- Crafts and seasons: Dollywood has craftspeople giving daily demonstrations, plus Harvest Festival (Sept 14–Oct 31, 2026), Harvey's Boo Bash (Oct 16–30, 2026) and Smoky Mountain Christmas with more than 6 million lights (Dollywood (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Accessibility and ratings
Hills: some areas aren't recommended for wheelchairs. Dollywood says "there are areas of the Park where wheelchairs and ECVs are not recommended." They're marked on park maps, in the app, at the Ride Accessibility Center and on signs. It describes "mountainous park terrain" and recommends a companion for visitors with vision loss. Grade figures aren't published. Use the app's "accessible routes" feature for step-free navigation (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Re-check due: the Rider Safety & Accessibility Guide we use for arrival details has no printed date; its file was last modified Jun 27, 2024, more than 12 months ago.
Rides (optional): staff won't physically help guests on or off rides, so bring a companion or personal care attendant. Ride signs show whether you may stay in a standard wheelchair (not an ECV or power chair), must transfer, or must walk to the ride vehicle (ride signage (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Restraints may not fit people approaching 270 lb or 6 ft 4 in, and test seats are at 8 rides. Oxygen is allowed only on the Dollywood Express and the parking trams (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). Under our optional-element rule, rides don't lower the Paths score.
What we found
Parking
- Guests with a permit are directed to ADA parking in Lot A/B, including van-accessible spaces, first come, first served. Overflow ADA spaces are next to Lot A/B and at the Lot D tram stop (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Arrival and entry
- Trams: "wheelchairs are permitted on accessible trams." ECVs and electric wheelchairs can ride if the combined weight of the guest and device doesn't exceed 500 pounds (Rider Safety & Accessibility Guide, PDF; file last modified Jun 27, 2024; no date printed in the guide (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
- Drop-off: for guests using wheelchairs or ECVs, Dollywood suggests the Guest Drop-off and Pick-up Areas at the Transportation Hub and the Groups/Preferred Parking Entrance (same guide).
- Tickets: accessible ticket windows are at the Front Gate, Ticket Sales and Information Center, Groups Ticket Booth and Season Pass Exchange Center, and accessible kiosks are at the Front Gate and Groups Ticket Booth (same guide).
- Security screening: if a medical condition means you can't walk through the screening device, tell the officer and "they will utilize an alternative method" (same guide).
Ride Accessibility Center
- The Ride Accessibility Center is inside the park next to the Dollywood Emporium. Hosts explain rider requirements and issue a Boarding Pass. A Ride Accessibility Pass is needed to use the accessibility entrances, which are marked at all rides, attractions and theaters (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
- The pass gives a timed return comparable to the current wait, with one active return time and up to 5 companions. The guest with the disability must ride. It isn't a TimeSaver (Dollywood blog: Ride Accessibility Center (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Restrooms
- All restrooms have wheelchair-accessible facilities (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
- Companion Care restrooms: Showstreet, Country Fair, Craftsman's Valley, Owens Farm, Village First Aid and Wilderness Pass.
- Adult-size changing tables: Showstreet, Wilderness Pass, Wildwood Grove, Hidden Hollow and Village First Aid (adjustable).
Theaters
- One companion seat per accessible space, and all outdoor theaters are accessible. Showstreet Palace has ramps on each side. At Heartsong, enter to the right of the main entrance (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Hearing, vision and sensory
- Hearing: assistive listening at all theaters; ASL interpreters with 14 days' notice; show scripts to borrow, including for the Dollywood Express and Birds of Prey (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
- Sensory: a Calming Room beside DreamSong Theater (30-minute slots), sensory-sensitive hours on select dates, and a Social Story. The same page lists the Social Story as "(Coming Soon)" in one section and links to it in another (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
Mobility devices
- Your own device is welcome if it carries one rider, is no more than 36 in wide and 52 in long, and goes at walking pace. Golf carts, two-seat ECVs and Segways aren't allowed (daily rentals (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).
- Rental ECV drivers must be 16 or older (16–17 need a guardian's signature), with a 400 lb maximum and one person only (daily rentals (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026). The accessibility page says rentals are "available online or when you arrive"; we follow the rentals page, which says only part of the ECV fleet can be booked online.
Service animals
- ADA service dogs and miniature horses are welcome, on a leash no longer than 4 ft. They aren't allowed on rides except the trams, the Dollywood Express and the Carousel chariot seat, and they aren't allowed in pools or splash pads (a state rule). Relief areas are on the map (Dollywood accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Oct 16, 2026).

Entry scores 5: Dollywood's guide confirms accessible trams that carry wheelchairs, suggested drop-off areas, accessible ticket windows and kiosks, and an alternative security screening method. The walking distance to the gate isn't published, and missing details don't lower a score. Paths scores 4, a disclosed partial limit, because Dollywood itself says some areas aren't recommended for wheelchairs and ECVs, and its guide says: "Although the natural terrain of the Smoky Mountains adds to the beauty of the Dollywood landscape, it can be more challenging to navigate due to the hills and valleys. Please refer to the Dollywood Park Map for assistance in identifying steep grades within the Park." Its accessible-routes feature helps, but grades aren't published. Separately, on distance rather than slope, a recent visitor wrote: "We (and a lot of seniors) had to rent electric scooters because the park is so spread out" (TripAdvisor review, Oct 15, 2026 (opens in new tab), secondary, checked Oct 16, 2026). Rides are optional elements and don't lower Paths. Restrooms score 5: Dollywood says all restrooms have wheelchair-accessible facilities and lists Companion Care restrooms and adult-size changing tables. Parking scores 5 for designated ADA parking with van-accessible spaces, overflow spaces and drop-off points. Staff & Info scores 4 for the Ride Accessibility Center, detailed published guidance, assistive listening, ASL on request and the Calming Room. Wheelchairs and ECVs are paid rentals, not free loans, so they don't count toward this score. Overall is 4.5 of 5, the average of the 5 rated categories.
Ratings tagged "not personally verified" rest on information the venue published or on trusted firsthand reports; we have not personally verified them.
