Accessibility and ratings
Heads-up: boat tours. The venue names only the Atlantic Explorer as accessible, and for manual wheelchairs only; power-chair users transfer with the crew's help (Virginia Aquarium accessibility (opens in new tab), [Official], checked Nov 2, 2026). A 2024 visitor whose mother had a knee problem wrote that she "did have some difficulty boarding the boat even with the crew's help. It might have been easier boarding the larger boat…" (TripAdvisor review, Sep 2024 (opens in new tab), [Secondary]). That was the smaller boat, the Atlantic Scout. The aquarium says "The captain and crew are happy to assist anyone needing to transfer" to a manual wheelchair, so ask for the Atlantic Explorer when you book.
