Louisiana
Louisiana rewards an unhurried day. In New Orleans, The National WWII Museum spreads across multiple buildings over two city blocks, with elevators wherever there are stairs, so give it a full day.
Out in City Park, the New Orleans Museum of Art says the museum, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden and Café NOMA are all fully wheelchair and stroller accessible. Audubon Zoo has benches and rest areas throughout, and a wheelchair-accessible Swamp Train. On the Mississippi riverfront at 1 Canal Street, Audubon Aquarium takes you up to its galleries by one of two lobby elevators and lends manual wheelchairs at no cost.
Head west to Lafayette, where Vermilionville, a living history museum and folklife park, has a wide ramp at its attractions. A tour takes about an hour to an hour and a half. Farther north, Sci-Port Discovery Center sits on the Shreveport riverfront, with an elevator to its second floor and an IMAX dome. The Shreveport Aquarium has ramps to all its public areas and a cownose stingray feeding it calls its most popular attraction.
Start early, take your time, and let the river towns set the pace.
